Tanjay
Talks . . .
Compiled by Braddock Calumpang
Tantalizing (is) Tanjay!!!
Rev Fr Art Borja, SJ, seminary professsor,
confiding to friend Vivette Faicol,
his
impression after two days of “experiencing“
Tanjay. (Ed’s note: ha, ha,
there’s
no truth to
the rumor the good-looking Fr
Art
was
specifically referring to the pretty girls
the
town
is noted
for.)
(…or, was he?)
I always have a soft spot for Tanjay!
Jaime (Jumbo) Ponce de Leon, one-time provincial
official, explaining why he offered to
donate
a
lechon at this year’s Christmas Party
and
another one during the coming 20th
anniversary celebration in July.
.
Aunque sea anak siya ug kusinera, o
hardinero, basta makama-ong
mobayle, maayong modala, unya husto’g tindog – uy, no me
importa!
Edna Villegas-de la Torre, extenuating
her and
her ballroom-dancing friends’ seeming
non-picky preference for the
simple humble
bashful DI’s.
. . . kay dili man gud mi
mga
tsismosa, nga pareha ninyo!
Prescy Barot-Almacen, jokingly,
as she
enlightens sisters Nannette and Beauty why
she and Malu Stuetzel are sometimes
“rebuked” for not knowing the latest “juicy”
bits of what’s news in Tanjay.
“Oh, I lived a monastic life in Tanjay!”
Dr Ernesto S. Colina, among
Tanjay’s “most
eligible” listing, commenting on his 6-month
stay in Tanjay in search of
destiny and the
elusive “Tanjayanon girl of my dreams”.
(Ed’snote: Unsa, “Monastic” kono? Ayaw
ko’g ilara, ‘Bay!)
Matters
not whether
we're right of wrong; they are always right!
Len Wood, business consultant
and loving
husband of Nanette Barot, his
advice on how
to live a happy life of peace with
a Tanjayanon
wife.
nabal-an
kun di magmadyong, shopping kag magpapa-tahum lang?
Mrs. Naty Guzman-Uriarte,
at the New Year's
eve party, commenting on
the Tanjay new
version of “Madyong Mga
Asawa” (See
Lyrics reprinted on
page 11.)

You Are Special
Do not undermine your
worth
By comparing yourself with others.
It is because we are different
That each of us is special.
Do not set your goals
By what other people deem important.
Only you know what is best for you...
Do not let your life slip through your fingers
By living in the past not for the future.
By living your life one day at a time,
You live all the days of your life.
Do not give up
When you still have something to give.
Nothing is really over
Until the moment you stop trying.
Do not shut love out of your life
By saying it is impossible to find.
The quickest way to receive love is to give love;
The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly
Do not dismiss your dreams.
To be without drams is to be without hope,
To be without hope is to be withour purpose.
...Life is not a race but a journey
To be savored and enjoyed each step of the way.
Wikang Pambansa
Ako ba, mo-admitir gyud
ko nga kining akong tinagalog,
sus ,intawon, maka-ulaw kaayo.
. Sagbat ni si Fern:“Ako
pud diay”, “Apan, ‘Dock,
nang-condolence
ba. Matar, pagdo-ol nako, nakadungog man gyud kong Dotty
nangutana,
‘Magkano ba mga anak ninyo?’ Sus, buhakhak gyud ko’g
katawa!
Pugong-pugong gyud unta ko, apan di man jud mahimo. Bali man gyud
nakong
katawa. Nakigpama-uli na la’g sayo si Matsuy. Napajud
conversation,
until you came’”.Sus, wa man jud ko kapugong!
So iyang gi-hangyo tong akong kaubang doctor, “Pare, sige,
pag-uwi ninyo, kukuyog ako, ha!” Kukuyog!? Sus, gikataw-an
kono siya nila.
(Apan, mao
ni ending ining estorya: wala pa gani kono sila
niya.. Egat!)
