Vol 2, Num 10 (Jan-Mar 1998)                 Page 5                 ANG TANJAYANON NEWSLETTER
Col. Gualbert-Sanchez & Family
(Tanjay's Col Dr. Gualbert Mercado. Sanchez is shown with pretty wife, Anna (herself also a doctor and a colonel), their good-looking son, James, and very lovely daughter, Monika. Photo was taken during James' graduation at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.)
Brad, I have already submitted my papers for an optional early retirement. Finally I shall have the luxury of time to travel with my wife - to California, to the Philippines (Tanjay/Dumaguete/Cebu), to Slovakia, my wife's homeland, then Rome, Paris, who knows? The downside is that with all our travelling, I might miss an issue of our ATN - and I would not want to do that.
Please send my ATN to the following addresses: Oceanside, CA (during summer); Slovakia (in autumn); Tanjay/Cebu (in winter time); RAFB, Texas (in springtime). I shall keep you posted for any other changes in plans/addresses. Please tell me what I can do for our Tanjay Association, USA.
Col. Gualbert Mercado-Sanchez, MD
Randolph Air Force Base, Texas

As we go to press, we just received word that Gualbert has been offered by the Phil Gov't the vacant post of Special Envoy to Slovakia, the native country of his wife. We'll keep you posted. (Yes, Iking, some people have everything!)

Nangahapla ming tanan!

Wala gyuy undang-undang. Ug wala sila manglarga, dili tingali mo hunong ang ulan." Ha, ha, ha, komedya ra bitaw tong iya, Tito. Truth is, lipay ug proud kono sila kaayo nga guibisita ninyo kay guipangmingaw diay sa Tanjay. They hope you enjoyed your visit and that American and Canadian Tanjayanons would go and visit our town again soon.

Yes, we extremely enjoyed our Balik-Tanjay adventure. Ang tino-ud, until now we are still at a loss on how to express our thanks and appreciation to Mayor and Mrs. Arturo Regalado who generously went out of his way on many occasions to make our stay a most enjoyable and memorable one. (P.S. Our belated diamond birthday greeting to your Mom1)

One and Only - in Michigan

Brad, thank you very much for the ATN, ug salamat pud kaayo nga imo kong guipangumusta ni Ms One and Only diha sa Michigan. (Ehem...!) And what was her reaction to my proposal? "Mikatawa siya", you said.!
Well, a laughter can mean many things. We made an analysis of the meaning of her katawa. Here they are:
     a) "Your proposal seems, ah, ah, well, interesting!!."    Nito Sibala
     b) "Manday, after 30 years, karon pa?"                   Dodong Saga
     c) "Bobbie, you blew it!"                                       Dr Noli Oracion
     d) "Buyag! Guiki-ki ra siya'g blue!"                         Noel Limbaga
     e) "No!", Boy Dido Limbaga f) "Yes!"                  Chic Bocanegra
So what do you think?
Bobbie S. Anfone
Tanjay, Negros Oriental
.
(Bobbie, ATN's analysis of her demure and seemingly blushing reaction is: "Ay, iya ra pud unya kong binu-angan!!!" Or maybe, just maybe, that katawa meant: "Uy, that means adto na unya ko mopuyo sa Tanjay ug maminyo ko. Sige ra unya kong ka-on ug budbud!") Ayaw'g katawa, Bay!)

Nangumusta (pasangil ra gud!)

I still giggle everytime I remember our Tanjayanon jokes in the ATN (issue #9). I shall be using them whenever I am made to speak and/or give a message. Please send me some back issues. 'Dock, thru the ATN, I would like to convey my best regards to our classmates there: Pito Orcullo, Elpi Culi, Sonia Mira, Editha Navarro, Rovilla Rodriguez. And, puede ba, please also say "Hi" to our "friend"somewhere over there. (Ehem!). Remember.

(Wil, of course, we'll say "Hi" to her for you, oo, lagi. O.O. lagi! ( Nene Seneris: we of course know who Willy is referring to, heh, heh, heh!!?)

Oooops, computer's fault

Excuse me, but I don't think I can forgive you. I couldn't sleep for three weeks when I saw that you misspelled my maiden name. Please know that there are 2 Rs in Borromeo, not one. I am now enclosing a $20-check. $10 is for membership fee, while the other $10 is to buy another "R" from you. See, I am buying, but even if you are not selling, I am bribing. And if you don't accept bribes, well, why?
Grace Borromeo-Banogon
Stafford, TX

We don't usually sell, but we can make an exception and have an "R Sale". Each "R" goes for $4.99 plus tax. So that in the subsequent issues, we shall show your names, thus: Edwarrrrrd and Grrrrrace Borrrrromeo-Banogon. Then we shall bill you accordingly. (Bitaw, Grace, we regret ogon. Then we shall bill you accordingly. (Bitaw, Grace, we regret the error. Thanks for your Tinanjay style of writing. As for your "bribe", Fern and Marianne shall credit that other $10 towards your 1999 membership.)
