The Daily Inquirer

The nameless "Concerned Ateneo Alumni" who took out an ad urging "all sons of the Ateneo who are ‘in’ with the Marcos regime" to "come home" and make this incredible claim: "Four of you who sit in the highest position of Marcos’ lap can bring Marcos down and save countless Filipino lives" (Inquirer, Feb. 14).

What?

Four Ateneo alumni-turned-tutas succeeding where the millions who voted for Cory Aquino failed?

I wish these concerned Ateneans had identified this later-day Gang of Four which they obviously have invested with preternatural powers.

Those of us who always associated the Ateneo with overweening arrogance and have had this stereotype confirmed very recently by Ambassador J. V. Cruz have just received yet another confirmation.

Ed:  "tuta" is a small puppy, which in the above context, means the lowest form of sychophant.
