VERITAS

How could Veritas (Jan. 26) misidentify the three semi-conductor companies acquired by the Asian Reliability Co., Inc. (ARCI) as "Interlek, Took (sic) and Die, and Dynetics"?

Your reporter might be forgiven for not knowing the names of the three firms acquired (Interlek, Tool and Die Masters, and Asia Test), but she can’t be excused for misidentifying Cynetics, a local firm, as a California company acquired by ARCI.

I don’t impute this reckless disregard for facts to malice but to the absence of professionalism and perhaps, common sense. Your reporter obviously did not bother to consult recent past newspaper clippings to remedy her ignorance.

Christian charity may dictate that Veritas goes slow in getting rid of incompetent staff members. If so, Veritas’ editors owe it to its readers to recheck and rewrite the stories submitted by its charity cases before foisting them on an unsuspecting world.
