Business Day

Only four months ago, the mighty Leandro Alejandro, BAYAN's secretary-general, was incessantly demanding that then presidential candidate Corazon Aquino meet and negotiate with him.

Afterwards, he complained noisily that Mrs. Aquino's representatives (former Justice Cecilia Munoz-Palma and former University of the Philippines President Emmanuel Soriano, no less) were unsympathetic.

This week, Ed Santoalla, head of BAYAN's public information department, made this offer to a certain Carlos Alfaro: Alejandro or "any one of our leaders" would dialogue with Alfaro "who can meet us anytime" (BD Mail, May 5).

Who is Alfaro? All we know about him is his hobby of writing humorous letters to the editor. Some of his letters poked fun at BAYAN.

From Aquino to Alfaro . . . how low have the mighty fallen!
