Mr. & Ms. Special Edition

I am deeply distressed by the attitude of Mr. Warren Fidelino who dismisses the February Revolution as "a four-day revolution cum picnic . . . . a struggle on the pavements of city highway . . . done in the comfort of numbers . . . against soldiers who didn't shoot" (Special Edition, Apr. 4).

Mr. Fidelino refuses to acknowledge that the "four day picnic" toppled the Marcos dictatorship.

He is incapable of seeing the millions who gave the voting process one last chance, committed themselves to nonviolent protests (such as boycotts and demonstrations) when the vote was subverted, moved when a focus of opposition developed, and laid their bodies on the line when the tanks rolled in.

All Mr. Fidelino can see are the four days and the picnic.

And why does Mr. Fidelino express contempt for the millions of his countrymen at the "picnic", condemn Minister Juan Ponce Enrile and Gen. Fidel Ramos as "part of the dictatorship", and omit all mention of Jaime Cardinal Sin and President Cory Aquino?

Just so he can proclaim the glorious leadership of one Etta Rosales and one Maita Gomez and people like them who boycotted the election!
