Letter to the Editor
Sir:

Corito Fiel’s four paragraphs on Mr. Homobono Adaza (Veritas, Feb. 3) do little to dispel the widespread ignorance about this controversial presidential aspirant. Like everyone who has won his political spurs far away from Manila, Mr. Adaza is considered by many Manilas to be talagang promdi na promdi. This prejudice makes it extremely difficult for anyone to evaluate Mr. Adaza’s merits.

I have participated in discussions where Mr. Adaza has been condemned as the Leonardo B. Perez of the Opposition, criticized as the Estelito Mendoza of the South, shrugged off as the Herminegildo Dumlao of Mindanao, dismissed as the Felicisimo San Luis of Misamis, and sneered at as the Richard Gordon of Cagayan de Oro -- comparisons which all these gentlemen will undoubtedly consider to be odious and offensive.

Your readers who want to arrive at an objective appraisal of Mr. Adaza would appreciate an in-depth profile of the assemblyman. Such a profile should be an easy assignment for either Mr. Luis D. Beltran, your columnist, or Ms. B. O. Cunanan, your political correspondent, who were both contemporaries of Mr. Adaza at the University of the Philippines some 30 years ago.
