I am sickened by the discovery that the story of "The Gentle Tasaday" is, like the Maharlika myth, just another hoax perpetuated during the Marcos era (MT, Mar. 30)
I am even more sickened by the fact that it had to be a foreigner to
expose the hoax. Where were our local anthropologists and archeologists
when Mr. Manda Elizalde proclaimed the Tasaday to be stone-age people?
Why did our historians and social scientists allow this hoax to be written
up in out history and social studies textbooks?
