No matter how immoral American foreign policy might be, it does not necessarily follow that every single entity harmed by the policy is an innocent party which deserves our support.
Knowing that Libya has actively supported the dismemberment of our country, I do not feel particularly dismayed about the bombs that are falling on Tripoli. My only immediate concern is the welfare of the Filipino workers there.
Unlike my friends in BAYAN who have condemned the Reagan government’s bombing of Libya (MIDDAY, Apr. 17), I cannot adopt the simplistic position that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend."
Rather, I ask, "Where do the interests of my country lie?"
I wish my friends in BAYAN would be guided by the answer to this question
rather than by the answer to the question, "What would hurt the United
States?"
