Over the past month, quite a number of people have revealed how much they worked to restore democracy in our country. Very many of this worthies must have been working underground since their feats of derring-do were never known until they started bragging.

I wouldn’t resent such exaggerated claims of noble deeds if the people who made them were telling us that they "invested" a large part of themselves in the new government and will do their part to protect these "investments."

For such people, I would even reinforce their delusions of grandeur and justify mendacity in terms of additional work such "committed" people will perform for our country in the future.

But it seems that all too many of these self-styled heroes are exaggerating their achievements either to forestall prosecution for crimes committed in the past administration or to justify demands for high posts in the present one.
