I hasten to reassure the offended Dr. Rolando M. Gripaldo (Letters, Aug. 2-8) that when I mistakenly referred to him as the chairman of the Mindanao State University’s philosophy department, I was acting in good faith and meant no offense.
Dr. Gripaldo identified himself as the department chairman to readers of this magazine last semester (Letters, Feb. 22-28). Being a charitable man, I naturally assumed that the university administration had retained Dr. Gripaldo in that position.
If identifying Dr. Gripaldo as a department chairman had rubbed salt
into the wounds inflicted by his fall from status, he has my deepest apologies.
