The Bagong Alyasang Makabayan (BAYAN) claims 500,000 members (MIDDAYm Apr. 17) -- or one-fifth of the 2.5 million which MALAYA used to report in the past and one-sixth of the 3 million BAYAN’s J. V. Bautista claimed shortly before the February elections.

Why the difference?

Is BAYAN admitting the loss of 2 million members over the past three months?

Or was BAYAN inflating its membership figures from the start?

Or both?
