Letter to the Editor/MALAYA/March 18, 1986

Atty. Tony Quintos, legal counsel of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and his friends who want him to head the CCP complex, should not go all over town claiming that his appointment is a sure thing because of Mrs. Celia Diaz-Laurel's endorsement and Support.

If Attorney Quintos really has Mrs. Laurel's support (MIDDAY, Mar. 17), gratitude for his prospective promotion dictates that he should shut up bout it. Claiming Mrs. Laurel's support will not hasten the incumbent's retirement or his elevation by even a day.

But such boasts picture Mrs. Laurel as the new appointing power at the CCP (which she is not) and open her to the charge of being "only an SL (Second Lady) trying to be an FL." Whatever her flaws, Mrs. Laurel deserves better than being painted in Imelda’s image.
