Letter to the Editor / MALAYA

Rev. Conrado Balweg and the people like him --- whose religious commitments have led them to embrace the communist cause --- should take note of the Sandinista government’s indefinite closure of the official radio station of the Catholic Church in Nicaragua (MALAYA, Jan. 4).

The government took this step merely because the station failed to broadcast President Ortega’s year-end message, despite the fact that this failure was unintentional.

This kind of abuse of power --- simply to avenge an affront to the ego of the ruler --- is what the Father Balwegs of this world condemn the Marcos government for.

The Nicaraguan example suggests that if Father Balweg and his cronies come into power, we may not end up being better off.
