Dear Madam:

Le Chat strikes again!

"Le Chat" is none other than Gen. Prospero Olivas’ daughter, Chato, whom George Ladera has described (Letters, Apr. 1 - 7) as "the saling-pusa of the defense panel . . . pouncing on anybody who believes in her father’s guilt."

Le Chat has just pounced on a hapless Epifanio Densing, Jr., whom she has pronounced to be "irrational and presumptuous" (Letters, Apr. 1 - 7) all because he suggested that if Chato wanted her letter to the editor to be published in full, she should buy an ad (Letters, Mar. 11-17).

If Le Chat runs true to form, she will unsheathe her claws next for Ladera. Not content with calling Chato a saling pusa, Ladera recommends that she undergo a psychiatric examination for possible obsession. Worse, Ladera unflatteringly compares her with Reynaldo Galman in a letter which was gleefully published by the newsmagazine which Chato loves to hate.

But if Le Chat wants to take on easier prey, she can always jump on M. Santos, the law student who defends (Letters, Apr. 1 - 7) J. Antonio Dizon, and early Chato victim (Letters, Feb. 25 - Mar. 3). Le Chat can pounce on Santos’ grammatical errors which cast doubt on her sex.

The cat-and dog encounters between Chato and sundry Inquirer readers are more entertaining than a comic strip, particularly because the pouncing pussy and her protagonists take themselves so seriously.
