Letter to the Editor
MALAYA

I can understand Miss Chato Olivas’ discomfiture (MALAYA, Dec. 19) over someone’s having affixed her name to a letter-to-the-editor that got published.

Something quite similar has happened to me: some friend(?) sent a Christmas donation in my name to an organization which Ross H. Munro has identified as a communist front ("The New Khmer Rouge") and I am deeply concerned over the possibility that as a result, I may be listed down in some dossier maintained by military intelligence as a financial backer of a communist front, a sympathizer of subversive causes, or a dupe who has fallen for leftist propaganda.

If ever I am picked up for investigation on these charges, I will appeal to Miss Chato Olivas who must realize how an innocent person can be placed in a bad light all because someone made unauthorized use of her name.

I will ask her to intercede for me because her father and other flag officers of our armed forces, particularly Brig. Gen. Ramon Farolan who was similarly embarrassed not very long ago when someone forged his signature on a controversial manifesto which was published nationwide.

With sympathetic intercessions like Miss Olivas and General Farolan, I can face the uncertain future with confidence.
