While the controversy involving the Metropolitan Citizens Military Training Command is one among military people, we should not overlook the fact that the alleged anomalies took place within university settings.

It would therefore be appropriate for the educational sector to be represented on any committee investigating these anomalies.

Deputy Minister Hermenegildo Dumlao, a prominent member of the Vanguard Fraternity, who rose from corps commander of the University of the Philippines Reserve Officers Training Corps to vice-president of UP, would be an ideal choice to participate (if not actually head) such a panel.
