I deeply sympathize with Dr. Pardo de Tavera, who was forced out of the chairmanship of GABRIELLA at an illegally-called meeting of the General Assembly at which one person held two proxies of 32 Mindanao organization (Inquirer, Jan. 27).

I hope Dr. Pardo de Tavera’s experience will be taken to heart by the many other decent professionals who believe that they can work with people like Dr. Pardo de Tavera’s colleagues in GABRIELLA. Such people toss you overboard the moment you disagree with them and then, to add insult to injury, slander you all over town as a traitor to the cause.

I am sorry that Dr. Pardo de Tavera did not learn her lesson from the bitter experience of those professionals who were forced out of the Bagony Alyasang Makabayan (BAYAN) under similar circumstances.

I compliment Dr. Pardo de Tavera on her sober public statement on this matter despite the shabby treatment she received.
