Some unnamed generals claim they were bypassed when Brig. Gen. Eduardo Ermita, Brig. Gen. Renato de Villa, and Col. Rodolfo Biazon were given attractive assignments. These generals have called for the strict application of the seniority system (Midday, Apr. 3).

We in the general public would be better able to evaluate these generals’ claims (which are obviously self-serving) if we knew: (1) who occupy the key posts in the military establishment, (2) what is the relative seniority of the occupants of these positions, and (3) what factors entered into the assignment of officers with low seniority to certain choice posts.

I hope MALAYA comes up with a full-length article on this. The retirements, retentions, and assignments announced at the beginning of April change the command structure considerably.
