In response to Mr. Archimedas Marquez who would have us choose between Deputy Minister J. Conrado Benitez and Assemblyman Leonardo B. Perez (Malaya, Mar. 8), let me say that I will select Assemblyman Perez any day.

I am old enough to remember those years when Mr. Perez regularly made the list of ten outstanding congressmen. In those happier times, Mr. Perez did win a number of honest elections on the basis of his performance in Congress and services to constituents.

As for Mr. Benitez, all I can say is that even with the full strength of the ruling party’s machinery behind him, he did not dare run for the Batasan in the city where he resides.
