THE PHILIPPINE DAILY INQUIRER
January 2, 1986

I would like to extend my profuse thanks to Mr. Leandro Alejandro, secretary-general of the Bagong Alyasang Makabayan, for his: (1) categorical call for a boycott of the elections, (2) his judgment that Mrs. Corazon Aquino cannot win the elections, and (3) his complaint that Mrs. Aquino’s supporters are ignoring BAYAN’s request for an appointment with her (Inquirer, Dec. 31).

Mr. Alejadro’s statements go a long way toward refutting President Marcos’ accusation (Inquirer, Dec. 31) that Mrs. Aquino’s advisers include communists who tried to kidnap the American Ambassador, were responsible for a series of bombings, and tried to kill Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile and Mr. Marcos himself.
