Dear Editor:

I am sadly disappointed in Mrs. Cory Aquino’s campaign promise to abolish the Ministry of Human Settlements (Inquirer, Dec. 20), notwithstanding its sterling accomplishments under the enlightened and visionary management of Minister J. Conrado Benitez and his corps of talented technocrats.

The only silver lining I see in Mrs. Aquino’s promise that some place will be found for displaced MHS employees. I hope that Mrs. Aquino will number Minister Benitez and his subalterns among those MHS staff members who deserve responsible positions in any new administration.

As true technocrats, the talented Mr. Benitez and his team of tried-and-true public servants will serve any administration to the full limit of their professionalism.

It would be a tragic loss for this country if the glory and luster they have brought to this administration would disqualify them from serving in the next.
