The announcement of former Manila Mayor Ramon Bagatsing that he intends to activate the Philippine Anti-Communist Movement (PDI, May 20) makes me wonder about the man’s grasp of reality.

Certainly, there are dozens of problems more pressing than communism.

But even if communism were the major problem confronting us, we merely have to recall the singular uselessness of the Philippine Anti-Communist League and conclude that the rightist step of reactivating this body is a step in the wrong direction.
