Letter to the Editor
Imelda's Monthly
August 1971

Dear Editor

Perhaps the most welcome feature in Imelda's Monthly is the column of Mr. Teodoro F. Valencia.  There must be thousands like myself who find his column so absorbing that missing it on any one day causes acute discomfort.
Mr. Valencia's optimism, so different from the front pages' emphasis on the negative side of things, loosens that feeling of uptightness.  This optimism makes his column an ideal vehicle for wiping the dirt away.
Even before my first cup of coffee in the morning, my hand reaches for Mr. Valencia's column.  As I sit in the smallest room in the house, Mr. Valencia's column is before me; shortly afterwards it is behind me  -  and then I can stand up, ready to face the world.
There must be thousands who, like myself, feel something in their guts every time they have the moving experience of reading Mr. Valencia.  In my office and in the dozens of offices I have visited, Mr. Valencia's column is the only one that people regularly clip (or tear) out before they leave for coffee break.
I am sure that the thousands who find Mr. Valencia's column extremely useful would highly appreciate his writing a much longer column.  More power to Mr. Valencia.
