Uy,  Mamyesta  Baya  Ta  Ninyo,  ha?

Tanjay Villa, site of festivities!!

The 2001 Tanjay USA Fiesta celebration will be held at the new Tanjay Villa, this was announced by Ms Marlene Zerna-Robertson,  President of Tanjay Association, USA and head of the Planning Committee.  The Villa, located at Bradbury Estates,  is a sprawling 6-acre residential resort under development, complete with a sparkling swimming pool, tennis court, picnic gardens, a pool house with a state of the art kitchen, and a spacious hall that can, oh well, "entertain" 6 mahjong tables.
This 3-day affair of fun, nostalgia and bonding, will start on Friday, July 20, 2001 and will end on Sunday, the 22nd.  The formal dinner and ball will be on Saturday the 21st and will be held at the Pasadena Hilton
"Tolo na pud diay ni ka adlaw'ng bahug-bahug," commented Douglas Lopez, a member of the Board of Directors of the Association.
"We are inviting all our friends to join the Tanjayanons in this celebration," said Robertson. "We open our hearts and our homes to all of you."
The main building of the Tanjay Villa and other facilities have been specially reserved for the out-of- staters who are expected to come.  "All in all, we are ready to house about fifteen families. Just tell us, and we'll be more than happy to accommodate you," declared Marlene by way of inviting Tanjayanons from all over.
Out-of-town Tanjayanons and guests are encouraged to stay at the Tanjay Villa instead of checking in at the nearby hotels. For details, call Marlene at any of the following numbers: (626) 945-6431, (310) 488-1363, (323) 224-2330.

city of lights, Rome, the eternal city,  Dumaguete as of the others - all in the typical Tanjayanon fun:the city of gentle people, etc.  What about Tanjay, back home, now that it is a city?
It used to be "Tanjay, lungsod sa mga maanyag", as popularized by Andrews Calumpang in many of his musical composition extolling the beauty and virtues of the Tanjayanon woman.  But as a city, what shall Tanjayanons call their hometown a city of?
We sent emails to Tanjayanons in the internet.  We asked for suggestions in this intriguing matter.  Of course, it was not something official, it was all fun.. Well, we got a good response, literally, from all over the world.  It was taken up as a fun thing, and everybody had a good time.  Some of them submitting as much as 5 proposed slogans for the new city.  As expected some suggestions were worth considering, apan kanang uban, ay sus, ay na lang ko!  (Daghan pa gyud  diay'ng duhal-duhal sa cyberspace).
So hereunder are some selected ones.  We want to share with you the intelligence of some and the kabuang

Tanjay, the city of smilesTanjay, the city of love
Tanjay, the iting-iting city
Tanjay, the city of the pilosopo
Tanjay, the bodbod city
Tanjay, where love abides
Tanjay, the hafarifi city
Tanjay, the Christmas city
Tanjay, the city of Kikong Sarabia
Tanjay, ciudad ni Solomon Yolok
Tanjay, the city that cares
Tanjay, the city of professionals
Tanjay, dakbayan sa mga katalan
Tanjay, dakbayan sa mga gwapo
Tanjay, dakbayan sa mga bayot

There are still more than a dozen of them, but the above seems to be a representative of the kind of suggestions we received.
In the end, though,  we feel partial to the one that simply declared:

    Tanjay, not a place, it's a feeling .  !
