TO COINCIDE
WITH FIESTA!
DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND, labi na sa rnga gi-mingaw na
jud sa Fiesta
didto sa ato, it has been decided to move the date of departure to
July
18, harong maka-attend jud ta sa real Fiesta Celebrations.
The
flight will leave from Los Angeles, with a stop-over in Hong Kong
. The return date is OPEN. The Philippine Department of Tourism
has promised VIP Treatment at the Cebu International Airport:
assistance
and courtesy (sa ato pa, dili ta sing-hagan ug dili ta maka-hatag ug
padanlog....)
at Customs and at Immigration (in ader words, kadtong mga TNT

Congressman Paras's Negros Oriental
Association's
guest speaker

Congressman
Jerome Paras (1st District of Negros
Oriental) will be the guest of honor and speaker of Negros Oriental
Association,
USA on the occasion of its Thanksgiving/Christmas Dinner-Dance
on Saturday, November 30, 1996 at the Industry Hills Sheraton &
Resort in the City of Industry. In a telephone interview with the
ATN,
NOA-USA President Bobbob Flores, a former classmate, disclosed
that
the congressman, who could be a senator or the next governor, will be
accompanied
by his wife, Angelina, also a lawyer, and will be staying for a
few days in order to meet with other former classmates, friends, and
constituents.
In a related development, Vice President Zeny Duran-Bennett expressed
confidence that this year's affair will be among the most well-attended
and successful functions of the Association.

The Rotary Club
of Tanjay will co-sponsor the Medical Mission, as well as
the
distribution
of used clothing and medicines (that should read: medicines and used
clothing,
in case you read it as"used medicines... ). There are plans for a
Gala Balik-Tanjayanon Night on July 23rd, so, pag-dala jud mo

back-up dancing shoes (kay mga gwapo ra ba kono and ilang mga DI didto
- dili mga bayot). As for the plane fare, any commissions or discounts
will be shared by everybody to bring down the fare. The delegation will
be led by Tia Ringgy and Badingding, and by Braddock, the organizer.
So,
don't waste any time! Sign up for the "trip of your life!" The
sooner we have an idea of the number of travelers, the quicker it is to
determine ug pila ang air-fare! What about the Tanjay-USA Fiesta
Celebrations?

the dates for this other event have been finalized. Ang maka-sadya jud

brainchild
of Engr Enrique Cariño. Manti-aw, King, ug na-a na ta sa

the Tanjayanon is now on the Web - pero witaminit - this doesn't mean

Newsletter for publication on the Web Site is probably just as exciting
as doing the original copy and probably takes just as long pwera lang

scanned into the computer and enhanced or resized as needed. Hasta ang

labi na ang mga apilyido. This requires me to read the text at least
three
times usa nako ma-upload ang files sa server. Pagka- upload sa server

pagka-human sa
atong Fiesta Celebration, mama-huway usa harong mo-linger
gayud
ang mga memories. Pero kay ma-o man jud ang batasan ug mga Tanjayanons,
gasugod na pud ug get-togethers - bisa'g unsa ra'y excuse.
OCTOBER 20 OFFICERS' MEETING The meeting was
held at Danny and
Badingding's residence. Special guests were Nene Pastor and wife
Salome
Calumpang, multi-awarded principal of Dumaguete East Central
School,
(she has translated diay the song Matud Nila into Spanish!). Very, very
Special guest was Tisoy, bag-ong anak nilang Jamie ug Lillian
Zerna (si Tisoy wa jud moliwat nilang duha kay puti tanan ang buhok
-unya upat ug ti-il, nya "foreign language" pa kay mopaghot ra
man, unya ug mangihi siya, mo-king-king ang usa ka ti-il sa likud! Ma-o
ni'y mahitabo ug mo-tumar ka ug fertility drugs!)

actually lasted HOURS: It was opened by Presidenta Badingding

Dr. Diosdado P. Villaflores,
among the greatest
Tanjayanons of the 20th century (a legend in his time), poses with
family
and friends who called upon him for a pre-birth-day celebration at Rico
Pilas' beautiflil home. Now 91 years old, Dr. Villaflores fulfilled his
lifelong dreams when in 1952 he founded the then Tanjay Insitute, the
regions'
first "backwoods university", which has since become the hope
and inspiration of the poor and the deserving in Tanjay and neighboring
towns.

the Christmas Party were discussed - it will be held on Saturday,
December 21st, at the Gil residence. Dugay-dugay ma-confirm

the
deciding vote was cast by Tisoy (kay upat man ang iyang kamut!). Okey,
okey, so we've gone to the dogs.. ..Ang ticket price for dinner
and dance will be $15 per person, $25 per couple, payable at the door.
Ang maka-bayad taga-an ug red ribbon (kana konong wala'y red ribbon
dili
pakan-on, 0 di ba, pakan-on, pero dili pa-imnon!). Mag-disc jockey na
pud,
unya mag-Security guard parang maka-tabang sa pag-parking. Next topic
was Balik-Tanjay, con-firmed date is July 18, 1997 pohon.

Tutang, i-reserve tanan ang mga hotel rooms para sa among
contingent,
okay?) Via Cathay Pacific, may stop-over sa Hong Kong. Hala, those who
are interested kinahanglan mo-sign-up with Tia Ringgy. Unya kay
ga-hurak na pud ang ginhawa, naga-plano na pud mi for Fiesta 1997.
Mag-tapok

motel, unya du-ol ra to most of us. Pero these are just temporary plans
for now. Wala kono'y banda this time for a formal dance, medyo mag-jam
session ra kono. Not decided pa ang date, pero Siguradong before the
actual
Town Fiesta, kay duna'y layhang mangadto sa Tanjay during the Fiesta
celebration
there. There was also a discussion on what to do with the Used Clothing
Donations, i-tapok tanan sa bodega ning Tio Nene Sibala.
Shipping
from the U.S. will be gratis, courtesy of Rustum. (Send
everything
to the Gil residence.) Then, it was Braddock's turn: gipang-basa niya
ang
mga Letters from our fans. Si Inday Rue Sibala gapa-dala ug
doble
sa iyang membership fee basta kono i-mention namo ug usub si Litoy
Diaz.
Unya, gi-basa ang sulat gikan ning Otilbap Lopanam, who
suggests
that the name of our Newsletter should be changed to, Ang
Tabi-an.
Sus ko, pag-basa na kabahin ni-adtong iyang notisya nga HIV Positive
kono
siya -meaning, Hair Is Vanishing - Si Gigi na-"accidente"
sa pag-kinatawa, among gi-excuse kay kinahanglan asekasohon niya ang
