TSAPTER TWO: DA DINNER EN DANCE - Saturday evening, July 20

The dinner-dance was held at the Sequoia Conference Center, attended by more than 130 celebrants. (This time, wala na'y kagubot kabahin sa bung-bung nga dili mairog, ang pagka-on nga gina-dali-dali, ug ang bus nga na-wala pa-ingon sa dance hall.) Honorary guest was Josue L. Villa, Consul-General of the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles, with wife Carolyn Macias. The guest speaker (introduced by Edgar Arrieta) was Dr. Vicente (Enting) Batiancilla, who gave a slide show of his early childhood years ("Remembering Our Roots" was the theme) and his work with the medical mission to Negros Oriental. Music was provided by Clarissa Girasol Schor anak ni Tio Rufino ug Tia Dadang Girasol, and her Midnight Motion Band. Ang mga out-of-towners, besides the Navarro girls and the Cariño boys, included: From Vancouver, Canada, Si Sonie Banogon-Arrieta, with hubby Chito and daughter, Shiela, Joji Espinas and mother-in-law Esperanza Aliermo; Mr. & Mrs. Gomilla from Houston, Texas; Col. Dr Gualbert Sanchez and charming wife Ana, also a colonel and a doctor, and their pretty daughter Monica from San Antonio, Texas (some people have everything!); Romy and Dolly de Lara from somewhere in Illinois; Darny Albon and Merlevey Corpuz from San Francisco; Dr. Fred Villamor from Cebu and Helga Gottlieb from Hamburg, Germany (both as guests of Marlene Zerna); Dra. Ester Buquiran-Perona , back to her original form, flew in from Chicago with guests including Vadoring and Ester Ley; Verna Gabas-Rice (no relation to Paulita Salva-Korn) came all the way from New York with hubby John and good looking daughters Stephanie and Joanna; Chito Alcantara came with wife Dorian and their mga gwaping nga mga anak. Special mention for the evening: 87-years- "young," Mrs. Soledad Calumpang Albon, who was proudly '~displayed" by daughter Mila. Ag "missing in action" sa bayle Si Inday Rue Limbaga Sibala, who had to cancel her plans to attend the celebrations at the last minute because of another obligation abi namo ang tinu-od nga rason kay wala pud mo-attend sa fiesta Si Litoy Diaz???

TSAPTER THREE - DA PICNIC Sunday, July 21

Held at the the City Park in the City of Placentia (dili placenta, okay?) - with a record number of attendees. Pastilang dag-hanang pagka-on, pero pareha gihapon ang nahitabo: KULANG UG KAN-ON! Duha kabu-ok ang lechon donated by Dr. Dodo Señeris and Ms. Marlene Zerna-Rohertson. Lupig pa ang karenderia sa ato - may binakhaw, may dinugo-an, may puto ug biko ug sinugbang awa ug manggang hilaw ug ginamos ug piniritong nukus ug pila ka kiaseng pans it. Pero no budbud ug tsokolate this time - sa Pasko ra kono. As usual, may tolo ka lamesang ga-kupay ug ga black-jack.
