siya makabasa. Mao kono nga bisa'g ma tulog, ga-ingon sila, mag-antijos
gyud siya - aron maklaro niya and iyang damgo.
Unya kadto
pud si Saloy'ng kutsero - kadto bang bana mi Auria (di matandog
lyang kalag). Tig-agi to siya sa amo kay suki iyang tartanilya mga
maestra sa Community School. Ika-usa diha nag-antiojos to siya.
So, amo to siyang gui-ingnan, "Ah, manti-aw Tio Saloy, nag-antiojos
na man di-ay ka!" Tubag pud ni Saloy, "Sakit man gud Ting
ning akong abaga."

for all the effort put into it!! The new Newsletter is terrific.
It is "HAFAR" in Tanjay terms. It is authentic, has the
Tanjay humor and it is written in English with a Tanjay accent You
can almost see Falang telling the stories with Braddock commenting
on the sides and the listeners bending over in laughter. It could
be the best source of information about Tanjayanons here and back
home which will tie together and narrow the information gap. Truthfully,
I didn't put down my copy until after reading through it completely.
Keep up the good work. I called Edgar after reading it and
he also had very good words about this issue - ...the format'. .
. the contents and the uniquely native Tanjayanon humor.

Samson sa una. Ingon pa niya: Tanjoyanons are a fun-loving but
sentimental people who love and are very proud of their own. They
laugh at themselves and at their own unique jokes. Dayon pung
tubag ni Annie Oracion (igso-on bang Eras, asawa ning
Tio Pedong Ligo, supervisor). She said, "Kanang uban
man gud, Sir, wafal man gud na silay mga lafams."
And thru the corner of her mounth, she whispered to us, "Dafagkufu
pa gyud na sila'g mga kufuafan!" Pastilan namong buhakhak
ug katawa ato.

Zerna (who, together with pretty wife Lilian Girasol
, owns and operates the Harvard Guest Homes in Bakersfield commented
on our composition Sho--pping Mga Asawa" (to the
tune of "Kasadya Niing Takna-a"). He was concerned
that wives would sing that song and shop and shop - and kalo-uy
intawon sa mga bo-utang bana. He submitted this poem (which he says
he wrote at 2 o'clock sa ka-adlawon while everyone else was "nagkolkol
sa katugnaw") as a supla:

Sa
first year pa kono sila si Balodoy (Graciallo Banogon,
Jr.) sa East Negroes under sila ni Mrs. Villaflores
sa English Composition. Ang ilang lesson adtong buntaga letter writing.
Gui-explain ni Mrs. Villaflores ang parts of the letter (inside
address, salutation, etc.). Gui-explain pod niya ang "P.S."
Ingon siya nga in informal letters, you can use a "P.S."
kung na-a kay gustong inpuno or if na-a kay nalirntan. dayon konong
tindog ning Tanseroy (Franco Tabaloc): "Sa ato
pa di-ay Ma'am, ang meaning anang "P.S. - Porgot Something!"
Bali kono nilang pangatawa. Ingon ni Mrs. Villaflores, "Uy,
uy, Francisco, ikaw ha? Lo-okon tikaw ron!" Hugyaw gyud no
silang tanan.
(Balodoy
would later marry Lulu Borromeo, our beautiful class valedictorian,
and then follow the footsteps of his father Ti'o Anong, and
his brother Dodong, to become the Vice Mayor of Tanjay. Tanseroy,
on his part, also married another smart beauty Telly Rosales
(my cousin who used to study at the then Tanjay Institute) and also
followed the footsteps of his father Tio Felimon, and his brother
Alex, to become one of the more famous sugar planters in Tanjay.
And as to why Franco is caJied Tanseroy by our classmates - well,
that is another story.)
P.S. We would meet again
Mrs. Encanacion C. Villaflores when she came over to attend
the Tanjay USA fiesta about 4 years ago. Our favorite teacher is
now in Canada where her daughter, Larraine, and son Percival,
both successful pro-fessionals, reside with their families.
